In this interactive and entertaining musical journey, Ulla—along with accordionist Bill Schimmel, a favorite of Sesame Street viewers, and Cuban percussionist Manuel Alejandro Carro—welcome you to celebrate the diversity of cultures and to taste the sounds and feel the rhythms in many languages. Ulla is known to rock the hall both in her solo act as well as when sharing the stage with other musicians from all parts of the world.

Program will include Hakuna Matata, Goldilocks Rap, a Finnish Polka, El toro enamorado (The Bull in Love), My favorite Things, and many others.

Bill Schimmel

William Schimmel earned his doctorate of music from Juilliard. A composer, author, lecturer, philosopher and virtuoso accordionist, he performs in a wide variety of styles from classical to pop and has appeared in Sesame Street as well as with many major symphony orchestras. He has recorded with such noted performers as Sting and Tom Waits, whose celebrated remark, “Bill Schimmel doesn't play the accordion—he is an accordion,” has entered accordion legend.

In 1992 he was named “Best Accordionist” by Keyboard Magazine and recognized as the figure who has done the most to elevate the accordion's otherwise tawdry image.

Manuel Alejandro Carro

Manuel Alejandro grew up in Camaguey, Cuba, where he played professionally since his teens. After immigrating to the USA in 2003 he has rapidly become one of the most in-demand percussionist and vocalist in New York City.

At home in many musical styles and known for his outstanding sense of color and beautiful vocals, he can be heard in an increasing number of recordings. He tours the globe with many luminaries of the Latin and world music scene such as Enrique Lopez' Latin Ensemble and the virtuoso guitarist Hernan Romero.
